Day 145

AM/PM -- Last day on the Non-fiction books. I am happy to say that our class has won a class readathon. We will do this on Friday. Students can come to school in their PJs and bring their pillow pet if they want. Students can also bring treats to eat in class. I will bring some treats too. Students will be able to read anywhere in the room from 9:15 to 11:40. Library Math: Understanding probability on a spinner. We talked about how in order to make a fraction or ratio there has to be equal amounts of each part. Writing/Reading: Working on finishing our NF books and book reports for the month of April Read Aloud: Homer P. Figg Social Studies: Today we talked about the life of a slave on the southern plantations during the 1800s. We listened to some Negro spirituals and talked about how they would use these as a way to cope with their circumstances. We also made a zigzag book on the roles of plantation members: planters, field workers, house slaves, and overseers. HW: Math: green w/s on probability of a spinner. Reading: work on their book reports.
