I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.

Day 9

Today:

Small group: Centers and guided reading. We are learning about reading with good emphasis. Please remember to read out loud to practice good emphasis in reading.

Math: We had a good math review today and then I gave them a pop quiz on the concepts that we learned. I will teach about prime and composite on Tuesday. No math homework tonight.

We turned in our spelling packets and then took our spelling test. Looks like most everyone did quite well. I am still trying to get my scanner working. Once I get it up and running I will have upload the spelling packets every Monday.

Writing: We talked about details in a story to help make a story more interesting. Then, we made a detail organizer. This is to help us organize our thoughts before writing (pre-write stage).

We are getting really into our book "Heir Apparent." We read chapter 8 and 9. It was hard to stop which is good.

Grammar: Our first grammar lesson was about prepositions. I taught Korean at the MTC for 3 years and I told the students that if my students there would have known their prepositions, they would be able to learn their language a lot faster. So, I am going to spend a week on prepositions. We learned the preposition by singing the song "Yankee Doodle". Their homework is to memorize all the prepositions by next week.

We took a geography quiz on all the continents and oceans.

Last of all, we had our RADD kids activity. They practiced their self-defense stance. The kids homework for that is to get a family password. They should be talking to you about that.

HW:
Read out loud for 20 mins.
Memorize your prepositions song.
