I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.

Day 17

Small group: Centers and Reading with Mrs. Varner

Math: We started Unit 2. In this unit we will be working with mulitiplication and division. The students will need to memorize their multiplication problems from 0 to 14. We played a game where we yelled out a problem and then threw a ball to another person to see if they can answer the problem before the ball reached them. It went slow today but by then end of this unit, I think we will be seeing the ball fly a lot faster.

Writing: We corrected our editing papers and discussed some misunderstandings. There is another practice sheet for homework tonight.

Computers: Free typing and practiced writing formulas on spreadsheets.

Spelling: We played sparkle to practice our spelling words (test is tomorrow).

Read aloud

Social studies: We are starting our Native American History Unit. Today we talked about the Bering Strait and how scientist believe that the Ancient people came across it during the Ice Age some 40,000years ago. We looked at some of the things that scientist have looked at to help them come to this conclusion (cave drawings, skull shape research, stone carvings, etc).

Then, We used the 10 things in our bags to help us come up with the a Native American name. We didn't have time to finish this so they were supposed to come up with their name tonight and then we will share it tomorrow in our groups.

HW:
Read out loud for 20 minutes.
Editing worksheet
Come up with Native American name
Study for Spelling test and finish packet 3
