I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.

Day 15

Today:
AM/PM time: Centers and small group reading with Mrs. Varner

Math: We had a great review session. The test is tomorrow. Everyone should have gotten all their homework sheets and quizes back so that they can study tonight. I am also giving out another Extra Credit sheet. Last week I only got one back. I hope the kids take advantage of the extra credit sheets I hand out. I told them that it was optional but I notice a lot of students didn't even take one. Oh well.

Computers: The students learned how to make a graph by entering it in information on a spread sheet. They are still practicing their typing. Please continue to practice at home. It is really important that they be proficient by March so that they can do well on the national writing test given then.

We watched parts of the 9/11 movie. I show a clip of the abc news broadcast of that day. You can watch it if you would like. The link is at

After watching this, we had a great class discussion about how it is very easy to get angry and mad at the people who did that. I told them it was ok to get upset and even sad about it, that is normal. However, I also told them it is hard to find good that come from such bad situations but when you do, you can do something amazing: you can make a difference. We talked about the importance to learning and remembering our history because it helps us know how to prevent history from repeating itself. Finding respect for brave heros and learning to appreciate the right and joys we find everyday are one of the most powerful things we can gain from awful situations like 9/11. It was a great class discussion and I appreciate you parents allowing me to show this to your child.

Enrichment: The students went to Mrs. O'Vary's class (the 5th grade ALL teacher) and they got to practice some typing skills.

HW:
Read out loud for 20 mins.
Finish your 5 paragraph personal narrative rough draft.
Extra credit: 1--math worksheet, 2--Patriotic star decoration
Study for your math test tomorrow.
