Small group: We are typing up our persuasive essays. Just so you know, the DWA test is going to be on February 25 (Friday). Please make sure that your child comes to school that day. We are going to spend the next two weeks preparing for that by writing persuasive essays on prompt in the computer lab every Wednesday and Thursday (may Friday's too).
If you want to help your child to do well on the test by practicing at home, that would be awesome!!
Here's what you can do:
Put them in front of the computer and give them a prompt where they have to write a 5 paragraphs (an introduction, 3 paragraphs of persuasion with seperate ideas in each paragraph that have supporting detail, and then a conclusion).
Here are some examples of persuasive prompts:
We should/shouldn't students have homework.
Students shoud/shouldn't have to learn a second language.
We should/shouldn't be allowed to chew gun in school.
All fast food drive throughs should/shouldn't be banned.
We should/shouldn't be able to sit beside our friends in class.
We should/shouldn't have school uniforms.
Cell phones should/shouldn't be allowed in school.
