Welcome back everyone! I hope that you had a great break. I certainly did.
As for what we did today,
During small group time, we got to go to Mrs. Aase's class and read with our buddy readers. Then, we returned to class and reviewed our Social studies test. This lead to a lesson on the comprehension skill of "Monitoring Understanding." I read a short story about a family that floated on the Ohio river in the 1800s to find new land West of the Appalachian mountains.
We started off practicing our editing skills by writing/reading about John Muir.
Then, we had our class meeting. We elected our new class officers. They are:
President: Carissa
Vice President: Madison
Secretary: Lindsey
We also talked about what we did over the break. Sounds like you all did some pretty fun stuff.
Some concerns were brought up that were mentioned: not being sarcastic, not saying that someones likes someone else, and keeping our book bag area clean.
Spelling: We started on week #15. The two bonus words are equivalent and Appalachian.
Math: We reviewed our Math tests on Unit 11. Then, we started on unit 7. We talked about how fractions breakup parts of a whole. This means that the whole part is divided into parts. This lead to the lesson on how division and fractions are related.
For example, 1/4 is a whole divided into four equal parts.
We also talked about how the numerator and denominator is different.
Then, we had lunch and our monthly LEAD meeting. There, we talked about recycling and practiced our School song.
HW:
Math- worksheet R7-2 and P7-2 (both are on the www.rockymountainelementary.org website.
Spelling - spelling packet #15 NOTE: There are a lot of missing packets so I posted them on the website as well so they can redo them if they lost them. They are graded so please make sure that they turn these in ASAP.
