I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.

December 7, 2010

Today we:

Centers/Guided Reading (Comprehension)
We are timing our self-sustained reading time. AM and PM Track is in a competition to see who can go the longest without me having to encourage them. So far, Am is at 77 mins and Pm is at 112.

Math: We corrected our Math homework and reviewed for the test. Then, we took our Math. I will correct those tonight and send them home tomorrow.
Also, we started on our next unit. We are skipping up to Chapter 11. This is a short and easy chapter that we will be able to finish before Winter Break. It covers Ratios and Proportions. For homework, they are supposed to do worksheet 11-1 on Ratios. Many of the students were able to finish it in class.

Social Studies: We started talking about the Bill of Rights today. We will talk about them all this week. Dec 15th is Bill of Rights Day. We are taking our big Social Studies test that day. Then, we will have a small activity to celebrate that.

Writing: The students are still writing their persuasive letters. Thank you for responding to their requests. Remember, you do not have to buy their item but you have to do your best to try and convince them not to get it. They will be thinking of ways to change your mind. Some of these letters are quite entertaining. We will continue this till Thursday.

Science: We discussed Gregor Mendel and made Punnett squares. They had to define these words: heterozygous, homozygous, phenotype, and genotype.

We also started on Christmas stars in art.

Alec had a birthday today so we had a fun game of soccer outside.

HW:
Math: w/s 11-1 (ratios)
