Today we:
had P.E.
Math: We reviewed Hangman division. Most of the students were able to understand it right away. However, there were a few of the students that struggled with it. On yesterday's blog, I mentioned that there was a "how to" sheet the I posted on the class webpage (it was the one under the spelling bee paper). That paper was to help those who forgot how to do it in class. It is a new way of doing division that helps the students to think holistically. I know that it is different than the way that we learned it when we were kids and it may seem difficult but it really is not. If you look closely, you will notice that it is easier and faster. I learned this in college and it actually helps students to see the concept of division. So those of you who are not liking it, I ask you to please just give it a chance. After this unit, if your students absolutely despise it, they don't ever have to do it again. But, if they give it a chance, they just might find it to be the best way to do it. Until then, please encourage you child to have a positive attitude about new things.
If you would like to help your child with this, please refer to the handout on the class page (under spelling bee).
Science: With Mrs. Beach
(I will be sending back Mr. Alder's Electricity test tomorrow. Some of the student's didn't do so good therefore, I will be sending an extra credit sheet for them to do at home. Please have that turned in by Friday so that I can enter the grades over the weekend).
Writing: We started our persuasive advertising unit. I handed out the rubric for the unit. They brainstormed ideas and came up with a beginning plan.
HW:
