Am/Pm--- Centers and Guided Reading
Writing: Today we talked about the 6 different strategies to persuade others to accept your claim.
They are:
Big names: experts and important or famous.
Logos: Using logic, numbers, facts, and data to suppport your argument
Pathos: appealing to your audience's emotions.
Ethos: making yourself seem trustworthy and believable
Kairos: builiding a sense of urgency for your cause
Research: using studies and information to make your arguement seem more convincing; you can use words, graphs, tables, illustrations.
We looked at examples to help us to see persuasion in ads.
Math: adding and subtracting fractions with mixed numbers and wholes.
P.E. with Mrs. Benson.
Timed math/Read Aloud
Social studies: Today we learned about propaganda and how Paul Revere used it (1770) with the Boston Massacre to convince others to join the Sons of Liberty and help start a rebellion against the British.
Grammar: We learned what an infinitive (to + verb) is and how we use in a sentence to help us expand on the main verb on the sentence. Ex: I need TO EAT some food.
HW:
Read. Finish your Book Report Book for November. We will do the project in class. DO NOT do it at home.
Math: Green worksheet on +/- with fractions with mixed numbers.
