Day 60

AM/PM-- Spelling Pretest/ Centers / December Book Reports

Writing: Today we talked about how Persuasion is all around us. We practiced trying to convince others that we deserve a life savers candy more than another. This was a great way to introduce others about the strategies that we use to convince others to think a certain way.

Math: Review of LCDs and adding and subtracting with unlike denominator fractions. There is homework on this tonight.

Social Studies: The start of the next unit: Pre-revolutionary war. Today we talked about the phrase "No Taxation without Representation." We talked about how King George of England wanted to tax the American-British citizens. We talked about the Sugar, Currency, Quartering, and Stamp Acts. We also mentioned the Sons of Liberty.

Read Aloud: "School of Fear" Self-start books.

Class meeting: Today we talked about how it is important to work hard. We put up a new quote to inspire us to work hard: "If you avoid difficult things, great things will avoid you."

HW:
Read. Remember your 2nd Nov. Book is due on Wednesday. We will write up a summary in class (do not do it at home).
Math: Blue worksheet on fractions (also pink for extra credit)
Writing: Find an ad and fill out the white paper on the persuasive strategy.
