Day 40

AM/PM-- Centers and Guided Reading-->focusing on asking question and predicting for comprehension.

RADD kids simulation. The kids got to practice their self-defense moves.

Math: Review on Fraction and Percents. Then, we talked about how we can break up groups of amounts into different amounts. We also reviewed a bit on Lowest Common Denominator. There is homework on these tonight.

Computers

Spelling packets and Sparkle to practice our spelling words.

Read aloud: Something's Upstairs

Writing: Today was our first day writing up our rough drafts. I handed out the rubric so that everyone knows what I am asking for. Everyone must have at least 5 paragraph. More is better.

Social Studies: Today we talked about the Jamestown and Plymouth settlements. We talked about Pocahontas and Squanto. We also learned that New York used to be New Amsterdam. We also discussed Puritans, Quakers, and how they were pilgrims (people who travel long distances for religous reasons).

Enrichment: We practiced some of our Hope of America songs.

HW:
Read 20 mins.
*Math: orange and green worksheet
Work on Mystery story rough draft (due on Friday)
