Day 39

Today:
AM/PM Spelling Test/Guided Reading--> working on asking questions and predicting to help with comprehension.

Math: Fraction and Percentage equivalences. Students can use calculators for this.

Writing: We read a mystery story to help kids to come up with an idea for their mystery story. Today we talked about how to create clues that lead up to the solving. They need to finish this for homework.

Class meeting: We talked about the fun things we did over the break and sang Happy Birthday to Anas.

Read Aloud: We are reading our Halloween story "Something Upstairs"

Social Studies: We are starting our new unit on the exploration and settlement of America. Today we discussed the three reasons why different countries might want to colonize in the Americas: Gold, Glory, and God. We also discovered that the 1st successful colony in America we in St. Augustine, Floria (NOT Jamestown).

HW:
Read for 20 mintues
*Green worksheet on fraction/percentage
*page 24 on the mystery pre-write on making the clues
work on your cursive book if you need to
study for the States and Captial's test that will be on Thursday (I changed it to make sure that everyone will get 100%)
