I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.

Day 21

Small group: Centers/GR

Math: Distributive property. Here is an example of what we did.
Here is the addition version 34 x 3 = (30 + 4) x 3 = 90 + 12 = 102.
Here is the subtraction version: 34 x 3 = (40 - 6) x 3 = 120 - 18 = 102

This is a property that can be used to do multiplication faster.
There is homework on this.

Grammar: After looking at the parts of speech quiz I gave yesterday, I noticed there a lot of students who do not understand the difference between a noun and a verb. Therefore, I am going to back up a bit and reteach these concepts. Today, we talked about nouns and recognized them in a sentence. We learned that a noun can also be 2 words (home run, physical science, Mrs. Varner). We also learned how to make a noun into a plural or singular version. There is homework on this.

Writing: We typed up our personal narrative. There was some issues with saving it on the thumb drive. The typing is slow so we will have to do this again on Friday. If you can type it up at home, that will be awesome. I will give them time on Friday but after that, we will be doing editing.

Science: We did a lab today. I was hesitant because last time, I had to stop it midway because of the talking and for people not following instructions. Today, I told them if they didn't follow instructions, they will not have any more labs for the rest of the year. HOwever, they did REALLY awesome. I was very proud of them. We got the whole lab done and everyone did it correctly. We learned about how magnets will repel and attract. Opposite poles will repel and like poles will attract. This is because the electrons are going OUT the sOUTh and iN the North.

Enrichment: Went and played soccer with Mr. Schultz. They won.

HW:
Math: distributive property
Grammar: sheet on nouns.
Trn in your Clear creek permission forms.
Practice your states and capitals.
Work on your Indian presentation.
