Today we:
Small group: Working on fluency
Math: We learned the rules of divisibility.
It is divisible by 2 if it ends in 0,2,4,6,8
divisible by 3 if you add the digits up and see if 3 can go into that sum.
div. by 4 if you look at the last 2 digits and it is div. by 4
div. by 5 if it ends with 0 or 5
div. by 6 if both 2 and 3 are divisible by that number
div. by 9 if the sum of all the digits are div by 9.
div. by 10 if it ends with a zero.
There is homework on this.
Computers: Free writing to help with typing practice
Read Aloud for ch. 12.
Social studies: We are learning the US states and capitals by learning regions one at a time. Today we started on the Pacific region. We learned Olympia,Washington (WA); Salem, Oregon (OR); Sacramento, California (CA); Juneau, Alaska (AK); Honolulu, Hawaii (HI).
Writing: We added more to our personal narrative. I had to remind them to show the reading what happened rather than tell. For example, instead of "it was cold" you could write "I stomped my feet, rubbed my shoulder, and shivered as the fog came out of my mouth."
We practiced singing the Star Spangled Banner and talked about the meaning behind the song.
