I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.

Wednesday, August 24, 2011 DAY 2

Today we:

We read "Who Moved My Cheese" and talked about how we can comprehend books by making connections with ourselves. This is called Self-to-Self Connections.

I took a few Reading assessments. I will continue to do this for the rest of the week so that I can have students in reading groups by Monday.

Also, we took a 5th grade math assessment. This was a test that lets me know what the kids know and don't know. I will grade these in the next few days to help me to know what units will need the most focus.

We also finished our mosaic that says "UNITED WE STAND." This started a topic of discussion on how we must work as a team to create a successful classroom environment.

We talked learned how to walk in the hallways correctly. Then, we went on a tour of the school to practice our hallway walking and discuss school rules.

We also took tour of our class website. I sent out emails about this last night. Their homework is to get on this site and make a comment to today's blog post.

Lastly, we started our Social studies lessons. We talked about the world map and how we can see the earth as a grid. There are 7 continents and four oceans. We also talked about longitude and latitude and how we measure coordinates.

HOMEWORK: Get on the class website and post a comment on the blog. Read for 20 mins. Get parent forms if you haven't already.

See ya tomorrow kids!
