Happy Valentines Day!!!
Wow! What a crazy day! We had a great dance/karaoke party today and we actually learn something as well.
Small group: We talked about the three things that we can do to make a powerful introduction for a persuasive essay. 1st--You need to explain WHAT you are talking about. 2nd-- You need to explain WHY you are trying to persuade on the topic, and 3rd -- you need to explain with DETAILS that make it interesting.
Spelling: We had a pretest on spelling week #21. The bonus words are Wyoming and Cheyenne. NOTE: I know that some of you are sick and tired of the spelling packets. We talked today about what we can do to improve the amount of packets that are being turned in. We voted as a class what to do about this touchy subject. The class decided to keep the spelling packets and if everyone turned in their packet by Friday then they would be able to decide what their next connect 5 reward would be. It has to be 100% compliance though. So please help your child to turn them in so they do not upset the other students in the class.
Regions: We are studying the Rocky Mt. Region. (Remember, you can get the practice sheets on our website).
Math: We talked about measuring fractions of a length. We learned how to estimate length to the closest whole inch, 1/2 inch, 1/4 inch, and 1/8 inch. Their homework is 9-2 (online, if you need it)
The rest of the day was making valentine boxes and partying. Thanks SO much to the mom's that came in to help. It was a really awesome party...we miss Danny, though.
HW:
Math: 9-2 Estimating lengths to fraction amounts.
Reading--record your stars
