I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.

Today,

We went to Mrs. Aase's class to do buddy reading. Then, we talked more about how we can fix misunderstood schemas by comparing and contrasting items in a story.

Editing: Letter writing formats.

Spelling packet #18. The bonus words for this week are Tallahassee and Raleigh. If the students got a 100% (with the bonus words) they do not have to take the test on Friday.

We are starting our memorization of the southeastern US states. There are some practice sheets online if you want to do some practice at home.

Class meeting:
Congratulations to our new class officers.
President: Camryn
Vice President: Lindsey
Secretary: Kaitlyn B.

Math: We are starting a new unit: fraction operations.
Today, we talked about how to add fractions with like and unlike denominators. We talked about how we can cut up pizza's into different size slices but by finding the Lowest Common Denominator (LCD). We can make a equivalent fraction were the denominators are the same. Then, we can add or subtract.

Persuasive Essays: Today, we talked about when writing a persuasive essay, you need to stick to the subject. I had the students pick between two opposing topics. (ex. chocolate or vanilla, football or basketball, classical or rap). They had to pick one and then write one reason why they picked what they did. This helped the students to understand how to stick with the subject when they start to write their essays.
Then, we went over the rubric and read an example of what they will have to write.

HW:
Math: worksheet 8 -1a: adding fractions with like and unlike denominators (this is online if you need it).
