Sorry I didn't post yesterday. Parent Teacher Conferences are such a busy time. It's hard to get everything done.
Here is the quick version of what we did yesterday:
We had a 5th grade assembly where the Kid's discovery Gateway came and gave us a great demonstration on chemical and physical change. We also got to do some experiments.
Math: We are still trying to understand areas of polygons.
Social studies: Practiced our play
Today:
Writing: Today we started our next unit on writing: persuasive essays. Today we read an example and brainstormed some ideas on what they will want to write about in essay.
Math: Today we looked at various nets and determined the area of a square pyramid by measuring and calculating the area of each triangle and then the base square.
Social Studies: We performed our play. I will try to get this up on our blog as soon as possible.
HW:
Read --many kids need to finish their book so that they can start on their book report. This book report was supposed to be done tomorrow but I will extend the date. Please make sure that your student is reading for at least 20 mins every night sow that they can finish their books on time.
Math: Measure the net of a rectangular pyramid and then calculate the area.
