Small group:
Nonfiction books. We bound final copies and talked about how to make a glossary and index.
Music: They got to act out different parts of Shakespearean plays.
Math: We analyzed characteristics of triangles. Students learned that we can categorized triangles by looking at it's length and it's angles. If we look at the lengths we can categorized them as either isosceles (2 sides are the same length), scalene (all the sides are different lengths), or equilateral(all sides are the same size)triangles. If we look at their angles, we can categorized them as either right (has 1 90 degree angle), acute (all angles are acute), or obtuse (there is at least 1 obtuse angle)triangles.
Then, we cut out the three angles, lined up the vertices, and discovered that all the angles will always add up to 180 degrees.
There is homework on these topics.
During lunch recess I had a few students stay for the math tutoring. Remember, chapter 6 retest is on Friday during lunch recess (this is optional).
Read from "Chains." Ask your child to tell you about this book. It will give them good comprehension practice.
Social studies: We talked about Ab. Lincoln. We studied his childhood, things he did as a young man, and his family. Tomorrow, we will talk about his political career and how he became President.
HW:
Math: r/p6-5 (online)
Reading: Fiction books should be finished by tomorrow. There will be a short quiz they will have to take on these books.
Writing: Work on Non-fiction books (these are due on Friday!) We have been working on these all month. I have done all I could but I notice a few students have procrastinated. I told them that I will take off 5 points for each day that it is late.
Also: Please remember to turn in Clear creek registration/health forms. If you child has lost it, I have it online at the Rocky Mountain website.
