I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.

Small group: Determining Importance

PE

Math: We are started a new unit on geometric shapes. Today we talked about the differences between 2-D and 3-D shapes. They learned the terms polyhedron and then learned how to label the vertices, edges, and faces of different shapes.

Region practice: Remember the test on the regions will be next week on March 7. Please make sure that your child is not only studying for that but is doing what they can to collect donations for the fundraiser. I know that it may be difficult to find donations but any little bit helps. All the money will go to Clear Creek, Hope of America, and other 5th grade activities. Your help is very much appreciated.

Social studies: We talked a bit more about how slaves in the 1800s coped with their condition. We heard a couple examples of Negro spirituals and talked about how those helped to develop types of music we hear today (jazz, hip hop).
We also talked about John Brown and Nat Turner's rebellion.

writing: Students are finishing up their poems. These will all need to be turned in by tomorrow. Many have already turned them in. Also, they are supposed to be memorizing their poems.

HW:
Math: worksheet 10-1 on labeling parts of solid figures
Writing: memorize your poems.
Social studies: memorize your states and capitals.
