I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.

February 4, 2011

Today we:

Small group: Worked our book club books.

Computers with Mrs. Belletti. She is working on their typing skills. The DWAs are going to be taken on the computers (this is the persuasive essay writing test that is at the end of the month and it needs to be typed). Please encourage your child to practice their typing skills at home so that they don't struggle during the DWA.

Math: I had them look at a graph that I made that showed their pre and post tests for the last chapter. I posted this graph on our website. It is called "Test scores for unit 8." Instead of names, I used the students #. If you can, please look at that. I think you will be happy with what you see.

We also took a mid year assessment test. I wanted to see how much the students has retained from past math lessons. We will spend next week reviewing math concepts before we start the next unit on measurement.

Writing: We looked at our voice in our essays and checked to see it was confident. Also, their conclusion should be enthusiastic.

Social Studies:
We talked about the Northwest Ordinance on 1780-1800s. We also talked about the westward expansion including The Trail of Tears.

HW:
Have an adult read your persuasive essay and edit it. they are supposed to have an adult sign their edit.
